2. What data do we collect?
2.1 Data you provide to us
- Account data: email address, name (first name), date of birth, gender
- Profile data: photos, profile description (bio), location, political preference, favourite political party, personal values, gender preference, what you're looking for
- Communication data: messages you send via the app to matches
- Interaction data: likes, passes, super likes, matches, debate votes
- Payment data: for a Pro subscription, the App Store or Google Play processes payment data on your behalf; we only receive a purchase confirmation
2.2 Automatically collected data
- Device information: device type, operating system, app version, language settings
- Usage data: time of use, features used, error messages
- Connection data: IP address, network information (anonymised)
2.3 Special categories of personal data
Ideals Dating collects political opinions and potentially data that can indirectly reveal sexual orientation (gender preference). These are special categories under the GDPR. We process these solely on the basis of your explicit consent when creating your profile.

4. Legal basis for processing
- Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR): to be able to deliver the service
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR): for special categories of personal data, push notifications and marketing
- Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR): for security and fraud prevention
- Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR): where required by law
5. Who do we share your data with?
We never sell your data to third parties. We only share data with:
- Supabase: technical service provider for storage and authentication (EU servers)
- RevenueCat: management of Pro subscriptions and in-app purchases
- Apple: when signing in via Apple ID or purchasing via the App Store
- Google: when signing in via Google or purchasing via Google Play
- Government authorities: where legally required
Data processing agreements have been concluded with all processors in accordance with the GDPR.
6. How long do we keep your data?
- Active accounts: for as long as you have an account with Ideals Dating
- After account deletion: personal data is permanently deleted within 30 days
- Backups: may contain data for up to 90 days after deletion
- Financial data: retained in accordance with statutory retention obligations (7 years)
7. Your rights as a data subject
- Right of access (Art. 15 GDPR): request what data we hold about you
- Right to rectification (Art. 16 GDPR): have incorrect data corrected
- Right to erasure (Art. 17 GDPR): the "right to be forgotten" — via the app or via our deletion form
- Right to restriction (Art. 18 GDPR): temporarily restrict processing
- Right to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR): request data in machine-readable format
- Right to object (Art. 21 GDPR): object to processing based on legitimate interest
- Right to withdraw consent: always withdraw via the app settings

8. Data security
- Encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all data transport
- Secure storage via Supabase with Row Level Security (RLS)
- Passwords are never stored in readable text
- Limited access to personal data on a need-to-know basis
9. Cookies and similar technologies
The Ideals Dating app uses technical cookies and session tokens necessary for its operation. Our website uses only functional cookies. See our Cookie Policy.
10. Minors
Ideals Dating is intended solely for persons 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors.
11. International data transfers
Your data is primarily stored in the European Union. Transfers outside the EEA take place only on the basis of an adequacy decision or Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs).
12. Changes to this policy
For material changes, we will notify you via a notification in the app or by email.
